Prescription refills

Please plan ahead with all prescription medications. Please seek a refill before you run out of your pet’s medication.

There are several ways that prescription medications can be refilled with our hospital:

  • Call us during business hours and pick up from our hospital
  • Call us during business hours and pick up from a pharmacy
  • Refill  your prescriptions through our online store and have it shipped directly to your door.  
  • Refill your prescriptions through a third party pet pharmacy, such as Chewy.com and have it shipped directly to your door.

All prescriptions will be filled on the next business day. If you leave a message about a prescription refill, please allow 24 hours for a response. Methods in which you can fill a prescription may vary depending on the type of medication that your pet requires. We may only refill prescription medications for pets that have been worked up for the issue he/she requires the medication for by our veterinarians in the last 6 months. We will not refill medications from other veterinary hospitals, pets that have not been examined by our veterinarians within the last 6 months, or pets with a new problem they are not currently receiving medications for, without examination by our veterinarians. More frequent examinations may be required for controlled prescription medications, in accordance with state law. Please pick up all medications from our side door during business hours.

For prescription diets

  • Call us during business hours and pick up from our hospital. Please plan at least 2 weeks in advance to account for shipping times as we may not carry your pets diet in stock
  • Obtain a paper prescription copy during your pet’s appointment to take to large pet stores that carry prescription diet products, such as PetSmart or Petco
  • For Purina Diets, use our Purina Vet Direct store front with the code CVCWE to have your pet’s food conveniently shipped to your door
  • Refill your prescriptions through a third party pet pharmacy, such as Chewy.com and have it shipped directly to your door.

For monthly preventative medications (flea/tick/worms),

Our clinic is equipped with a large variety of preventative products. We recommend year round use of these products, as they are critical in preventing devastating conditions spread by parasites such as Borreliosis (Lyme disease), Heartworm disease, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, Anemia, Cytauxzoonosis (Bobcat Fever) and more. Feel free to stop in at the side door anytime during business hours to pick up these products. Please know your pet’s most current weight at time of pickup. We may only provide these products to pets that have been seen at our hospital in the past year. 

There are many types of preventative products, varying from topical to oral, duration of action, and types of parasites covered. Please ask one of our veterinarians during your pet’s next wellness examination about recommending a preventative plan that is right for your pet and their lifestyle.
